The Shahpur Kanjran Cattle Market is based in the heart of Punjab’s provincial capital, Lahore. Other than being one of the most oldest and popular Cattle Market, it is also one of the largest in terms of monetary transactions and number of Cattle Breeds exchanged. The Cattle Market remains operational throughout the week with Wednesday being the most important week of the day. The graph below shows the distribution of visitors by city.

The Market covers an area of 617 kanals approximately surrounded by lush green pastor lands. The centrality of this Market, surrounded with densely populated towns and villages, adds to the prospects of its success and advancement. As part of the augmented service offering, free tents, a complaint cell, 19 public toilets, and water pumps are provided to traders. Moreover, more than 1000 khurli’s and 50 charpai’s are also provided for the comfort of the Traders.

Constrained by lack of resources, LDCMMC is working hard to develop the Lahore Market. A comprehensive study for civil work has been done and tendering is in process for water leveling and other civil works. A basic road structure will be made with an expense of approximately 10 million PKR, utilizing the current material present in the market.

Proper Parking area will be established through utilizing the current resources. Proper fencing will be done to control the traffic on Eid. LDCMMC has various plans to make symmetrical shops on Eid which will be according to the vision of CM Punjab. A total expenditure of 25 million PKR will be required for spending on these transitional works which are planned for completion before Eid. These works will be completed after approval of the Budget and Finance Committee of LDCMMC.
